I was really looking forward to this Peter Kelly restaurant on the Hudson, but I was disappointed. Although the setting is elegant, it doesn’t justify the high prices, mediocre food and poor service.
The restaurant is located on the second floor of a beautiful old pier on the Hudson River. The 3 walls of glass offer amazing views of sunsets over the Palisades.
The tuna tartare appetizer was a generous portion of great quality fish and beautifully presented but it lacked flavor. The mushroom risotto was undercooked and crunchy. The entrees, duck breast and diver scallops, were delicious but cold by the time they reached us. All said, the dishes were disappointing in a restaurant of this caliber and price point.
The service was attentive but the hostesses weren’t welcoming, our busboy was brusque and our waiter charged us $34 for 2 glasses of wine (we only had 2 sodas, which he also charged us for). Plus our food came so quickly that we were done in 45 minutes, so we felt pretty rushed.
1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 sodas = $110 before tip. I’m glad I tried it but I won’t be back.
